Living with Dyson’s House Appliances

James Dyson, born on May 2nd, 1947, is a British inventor and industrial designer. Dyson founded Dyson Ltd, which is a household appliances company selling various innovative house appliances. Dyson’s first known invention after graduation was the Ballbarrow, an alternative wheelbarrow design. It got featured in BBC’s Tomorrow’s World TV program in 1974. After few years, Dyson started to ideate a vacuum cleaner mimicking the cyclonic separation method to do not lose dust while sucking them. After testing more than 5,000 prototypes, he finally launched “G-Force” cleaner in Japan in 1983. “G-Force” cleaner became his first journey to invent various types of vacuum cleaners. With his amusing vacuum inventions, Dyson established a British technology company named Dyson in 1991.

Introducing one of his recent vacuum cleaners, he launched the Dyson 360 Heurist robotic vacuum cleaner controlled by a free iOS or Android application in Japan in 2014. Adapting into the digitalized world, users can interact with the app by navigating the vacuum’s direction, scheduling cleaning time and changing power levels. Like its name, Dyson 360 Heurist has a 360° navigation system, which allows the vacuum to check its cleaning status and find the area it has to clean. The sensor attached to the robot inspections its travel journey every 20 milliseconds so that Dyson 360 Heurist should vacuum precisely. Furthermore, as he always considers suction function, Dyson 360 Heurist was launched with the motor V2, generating 20% more suction than Dyson 360 Eye robot vacuum cleaner.

In addition to the vacuum cleaner, James Dyson is also known for bladeless hand dryers, fans and hairdryers. In 2006, Dyson launched the Dyson Airblade, a hand dryer that uses a thin sheet of moving air rather than heating to evaporate water. And, in 2009, Dyson introduced Dyson Air Multiplier, which is a fan without external blades. Its blades are hidden inside the base and operate by brushless electric motors. Even though Air Multiplier does not have visible fans, it still runs with a mighty wind reducing noise and electricity. With a similar operation style, Dyson launched a bladeless hairdryer called Dyson Supersonic in 2016. The bladeless hairdryer dries your hair faster without extreme heat.
