VANCOUVER FASHION WEEK ONLINE RUNWAY RECAP

The first and only night of Vancouver Fashion Week’s first online runway brought a strong selection of design talent to the viewers screens at home. From modern Japanese streetwear to local Canadian contemporary fashion,

To start the evening, FAUN Studio, showcased their SS21 collection ‘the mountains and the moon’. “This collection was conceived at the beginning of the global pandemic. It represents my reflection on time and impermanence, as represented in the constant yet fleeting nature of the world around us.” – Designer, Marisa Clark.

Oregon-based designer Jordan Kendrick received her Bachelor in Apparel Design from The Art Institute of Portland and finds joy in expressing herself through art, music and crafts. “My inquisitive nature drives me to research culture, history and science every single day.” – Jordan Kendrick

Japanese brand, LIBERE, ranges from street to classic styles; drawing inspiration from different countries coming together to combine seasonal themes.

NAKED is a Vancouver-based brand that designer Secil Turhan describes as being all about finding inner balance, acceptance and freedom of expression. “We all have a tendency to focus on the lighter things as we conceal and label darker things as evil, however at some point we all have to accept ourselves. I want to help people express their deeper sides and suppressed sides through style with my brand.”

17 year old Designer Sabina Low, is excited to have the opportunity to showcase her first public collection at Vancouver Fashion Week. Throughout high school Sabina has pursued her passion for art & design by volunteering at Vancouver Fashion Week and working with local artists and designers in Vancouver. Born and raised in Vancouver, Sabina has grown up surrounded by the ocean and mountains. “I’m inspired by my natural surroundings and the many nights I’ve spent sitting around campfires at the beach. I’ve created a colourful, hopeful collection for SS/21.” – Sabina Low

To close the show, Designer, John Pfaff, showcased Sip Floa’s first collection. His goal was to celebrate animals, their connection to humans, and speak to diversity, creativity and inclusion.
